WOMEN’S EQUALITY DAY: MOGUL HONORS WOMEN IN ENGINEERING

(NEW YORK) - Multiple generations of women in all phases of their careers will gather virtually Aug. 26 to celebrate Women’s Equality Day as part of Mogul’s “Breaking Misconceptions about Engineering” career showcase. The event will be held at 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Speakers include Anusha Meka, Principal Software Engineering Manager from Microsoft, and Brittani Kauf, Technical Program Manager, Data Engineering at StockX. The event will discuss common misconceptions about women in engineering professions, and is hosted by Mogul, Inc., a fast-growing disruptor in the HR tech industry.

The event will also discuss ways to succeed in engineering. “Hard work, planning, and consistency” are Anusha Meka’s recommendations.

According to the National Center for Women and Information Technology, more than half of all women who work in technology positions leave those positions mid-career, which is twice the rate for men.

“The revolving door needs to close,” said Jossie Haines, VP of software engineering at Tile, and a premium member of the Mogul community. Haines collaborates with other executive women in technology roles on Mogul’s premium platform, and has mentored women in software engineering through Mogul. Haines has made it her mission to keep women in engineering. “With all of the brain power in Silicon Valley, if we can get more women and under-represented minorities to stay in tech, we can start to address very real social issues in our country,” she said.

The event will also discuss ways to succeed in engineering. “Hard work, planning, and consistency” are Anusha Meka’s recommendations.
